Andrew is a nice guy and does quality work, but for kitchen tiling I am afraid to say is very slow; approx 4 tiles per hour (100x200mm) or 0.8 sq m a day (10 hours). I personally (a diy'er) can do 15 tiles an hour - i.e. 4 times faster. £250 at day is expensive. (My electrician is £175 a day) I ended up capping the job at £600 and decided to complete tiling and grouting myself after 3 days. I would not have hired Andrew if I knew he was this slow and as a result expensive.

I'm fairly new to the industry, so I'm not yet jaded. I still find my work interesting! I have experience in: Changing light fittings, Adding new fittings to new positions and running wires to the new position, Adding external lights and security lights, Pendant lights and downlighters, Moving switches, Adding switches to control lights from another point, Replacing on-the-wall sockets to flush fittings with the box inside the wall - both brick walls and plasterboard walls, Upgrading single sockets to double sockets, Moving and adding sockets, Adding outside sockets, Replacing extractor fans, Connecting cookers and hobs, And probably a few other things that I've forgotten! My qualifications include a diploma in electrical installations, along with the calculations required to ensure the installation is electrically safe, using the correct size wires for the size and load of the circuit. I have Part P, the part of the building regulations for electrical work, as it affects the structure of the building. This is to ensure wires are run through the best places to ensure that they don't affect the integrity of your building. I also have a level 2 Inspection and Testing certification, to ensure that the electrical work I've done is wired up correctly, and safe given the size of the wires and the circuit breaker in the consumer unit (also known as the fuse board).
