I have been a professional roofer for 38 years started on schools then worked my way on to ministry of defence. Now I just enjoy doing domestic and commercial roofs.
Avoid Wayne from Blackwell Roofing. He quoted £380 based on photos, then came to view the job from the ground—no proper inspection. He later climbed a ladder with no safety gear, started tearing down fascia, then suddenly claimed the job was £1,600. When I asked him to stop, he became aggressive, shouting and throwing tools and wood down dangerously. I felt threatened and unsafe in my own home. Totally unprofessional, dishonest, and intimidating. Do not hire him.

The removal of the chimney was straight forward with the team working harmoniously. The roofing subcontractors followed and the job was completed to full satisfaction in a couple of days with any queries speedily and happily resolved through Tom and his team. Our quote was higher than others as we quoted to coat the stairs three times with a high quality varnish because they were in such a bad way, however the customer did not want to pay for this so we kindly matched the other quote, and this was only to put one coat of mid range varnish on. As with all previously painted low grade pine to achieve a good even finish you need to build on the layers and this customer did not want to pay for this. On finishing this job we had advised the customer that additional coats were needed and offered to do them at a reduced price. The flooring as mentioned by the customer is good and we also matched a lower quote for this.
